One Whole Year | A Bemus Point First Birthday Session

Families

One is such a good age for photos. They’re steady enough to sit up and explore on their own, but still small enough to get completely distracted by a daisy chain — which is exactly what happened during this sweet milestone session in Bemus Point.

We spread a blanket out in the grass and let her do her thing: picking flowers, studying them like they held the secrets of the universe, and occasionally shrieking with delight when her big brother leaned in for a squeeze. That straw sunhat stayed on for about half the session and off for the other half, which honestly is the most one-year-old thing I can imagine.

My favorite part of any first birthday session is watching the whole family together — mom stretched out in the grass, laughing at whatever face her daughter was making; big brother planting a kiss right on her shoulder without being asked. Those sibling moments are never posed, and they’re always the ones families end up printing and framing.

A full year in, and this little one has clearly got her whole family wrapped around her finger. What a joy it was to spend a summer evening documenting it!

If your baby is closing in on their first birthday, a milestone session is one of my favorite ways to mark it. Little ones this age are curious, expressive, and just starting to have real personality in front of the camera — I’d love to capture that for your family too.
