A Lakeside Drive Family Session | Bemus Point, NY

Families

Summer on Chautauqua Lake means one thing: the whole family is home. That’s exactly what brought the Stevens family together on Lakeside Drive in Bemus Point this July.

Three generations. Five cousins. One very loved set of grandparents. It was a full house, and it was a joy.

We started on the porch swing, pinwheels in hand. The girls compared bows. The littlest one clutched her pinwheel like it was made of gold. Big laughs, easy smiles — no convincing needed.

Down by the water, we lined everyone up for the classic big group shot. Then we let it fall apart a little. That’s always my favorite part. Grandma and grandpa got their own moment with all five grandkids. Two sisters pressed their foreheads together and giggled. A pinwheel got an up-close taste test.

By the end of the session, the kids had taken over the yard. An American flag became a cape. A blanket became a fort, held up by the parents’ hands. One girl ran full speed across the grass, hair flying, completely unaware anyone was watching.

This is what I love most about family photography near Bemus Point — the real stuff, caught in between the posed shots. The cousin bonds. The grandparent hugs. The chaos that makes a family a family.

If your crew is gathering on Chautauqua Lake this summer, I’d love to help you capture it too.
